We can help you improve your systems to avoid incoming waste and divert your unavoidable waste from landfill. This could be a single consultation, a short-term project with us, or a long-term research project in collaboration with us and a research institute.

With our recycling technology partners we can source quality balers, shredders, and waste consolidation equipment to buy that will help you separate, measure, and recycle your materials. Some materials like cardboard and some plastics can be sold for a revenue, further offsetting your waste management costs.

Some waste can never be avoided but finding the right end-of-life solution will reduce both your costs and your environmental footprint. We work alongside councils and local recyclers to help you find the best economic and environmental options for managing your waste.

These services are recommended to businesses that generate waste, have complex waste streams, or manufacture products. Once we understand your vision and goals, we can create a custom pathway for your waste sustainability journey.

Step 1: Waste audit

Our first recommendation to businesses is to understand your waste output and create a baseline to measure your improvements against. Even if you are already recycling, there are always opportunities to reduce waste by focusing on the materials not accepted through your recycling provider and optimizing your systems to reduce contamination, reduce environmental impacts and save money.

This involves the Precycle NZ team physically sorting through your outgoing waste to measure the contents. Through understanding your waste, we will report back on where to focus your efforts so you get the biggest bang for your buck and recommend customized solutions to target these waste streams.

As an accredited ISO14001 lead auditor, our report will be accepted by most accreditations as a third-party verification of your waste and sustainability efforts. Our engineering and life cycle-based approach provides real scientific backing for all environmental and economic recommendations, adding value to any business case or project proposal.

Step 2: Implementation of Waste Solutions and Initiatives

Once we have identified the highest impact areas for you to focus, we can help you put these in place. For most businesses this step takes the most effort and resources, so we can take the pressure off you in a way that fits you.

Projects in this phase will be opportunities you have identified already, or that were identified through a waste audit. This could include initiatives like:

Separating waste at the source and connecting with a processor to have them recycled.
Changes in procurement to receive more sustainable good that reduce your overall impact.
Behavioral changes and staff training.
- Life cycle assessment of materials and products to justify your choices.
Phase single use items out of your business.
Purchase and commissioning of on-site processing equipment to enable recycling such as a balers, compactors, or shredders.

Sustainable Event Management

Our team of recycling specialists will work with you at your events to ensure contamination rates of every single recycling bin is <5%, allowing you to have it recycled or composted with no issues. We have a dedicated and passionate team who will not only help sort the rubbish but work with the public to educate them on the best practices and make it fun. We work with vendors to ensure their packaging is up to standard and appropriate for each type of event. We have a range of options to suit your specific event needs. All event service packages include litter control during the event and pack down and could include use of the dishwashing truck and washable serve ware.

The packages we offer include:

Education and Engagement Package:

This package offers the personal experience that is always appreciated by the attendees, and it has a good look for your organisation. Our trained team will be stationed at bins to help public sort waste correctly. This has enabled a <1% contamination rate so all compostable/recyclable materials are accepted and reduce waste to landfill.

Behind the Scenes Package:

This is more appealing to private events with a tight budget and can save some landfilling costs. Our trained team will keep the bins emptied and sorting the waste behind the scenes and post-event to remove contamination. This involves less labor so cheaper, but is less visible to public. The outcome sustainability wise is very similar with some unavoidable contamination but will still be acceptable by recycling/compost.

Impact assessment package:

For organizations wanting to really make a difference and have a measurable impact. This package utilizes our accredited ISO14001 lead auditor to measure and report on outcomes to prove your sustainability impact such as % waste diverted, carbon emissions prevented, carbon footprint of event, waste audit of general waste for continual improvement and more.

Research & Development - Materials, Upcycling + more

We have a specialized team of chemical process, mechatronics, and materials engineers and environmental scientists to help with your waste and materials problems. This could include new product development, process design, materials testing, environmental impacts assessments, life cycle analysis and more.
